Karissa Peoples is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with over 10 years of experience in the mental health field. Starting her career in advocacy and case management for assault and trafficking survivors, she has continued to strengthen her clinical skills working with adults both locally and abroad. Karissa specializes in depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction, and adjustment disorders. She has provided support for individuals with chronic illness in the acute inpatient setting, as well as ongoing support in intensive outpatient programs and clinics. She believes in meeting folks where they are to help them cope. Karissa obtained her Bachelor of Social Work from The Ohio State University and her Master of Social Work from Boston College. She utilizes interventions from cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, strength-based, and trauma approaches in order to meet the needs of the individual she works with. …Life is full of ups, downs, and situations that are outside our control. Karissa’s job is not to judge or “fix people,” but to empower and encourage folks; to give a safe space to work through the various challenges in life that everyone experiences.
