Dr. Katherina Z. Calvillo, MD

Dr. Katherina Zabicki Calvillo is a surgeon at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) and an instructor in surgery at Harvard Medical School (HMS). Dr. Calvillo is based at the Breast Center at Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women’s Cancer Center in clinical affiliation with South Shore Hospital. She operates at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital, and South Shore Hospital.Dr. Calvillo received her undergraduate degree magna cum laude from the University of Michigan and her medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine. She completed a residency in general surgery at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, followed by the Harvard Medical School Partners Cancer Care Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. She is board certified in general surgery.Her clinical interests include breast conservation surgery, mastectomy with immediate reconstruction, nipple-sparing …mastectomy, pregnancy-associated breast cancer and sentinel lymph node biopsy. She has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications and serves as an ad hoc peer reviewer for the American Journal of Surgery and Annals of Surgical Oncology. Dr. Calvillo has been invited to present at national society meetings and international cancer symposiums in China. Dr. Calvillo was elected to serve as the Program Chair for the American Society of Breast Surgeons 21st Annual Meeting in Las Vegas. She also serves on the Publications Committee for the American Society of Breast Surgeons. Dr. Calvillo has been named one of America’s Top Doctors by Castle Connolly/US News and World Report since 2010 and has been named a Top Doctor by Boston Magazine since 2017.
