Dr. Keyvan Jahanbakhsh, MD

Dr. Keyvan Jahanbakhsh is a native of San Diego and graduate of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. His patients affectionately refer to him as Dr. J. After medical school, Dr. J went on to complete a surgical internship and then residency in anesthesiology at Montefiore Medical Center. Dr. J subsequently completed a fellowship in interventional pain management at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City.
In addition to his medical training, Dr. J has a background in biomedical engineering. He has completed research at the University of California, San Diego in anesthesia, orthopedics, ophthalmology and cardiology, often combing his medical and engineering expertise in his research endeavors.
Dr. J’s practice is based on a compassionate, holistic, multidisciplinary approach which allows him to tailor his treatment plans to meet the specific needs of each patient. In keeping with his engineering and surgical backgrounds, he is committed to providing state of the art and …proven treatment modalities. He has a special interest in minimally invasive spine therapies, neuromodulation and intrathecal pumps for chronic and malignant pain.
Dr. J specializes in a variety of pain ailments including spinal pain syndromes of the neck and back caused by arthritis, degeneration and trauma. He has extensive experience treating patients with neuropathic pain syndromes such as complex regional pain syndrome, post thoracotomy syndrome, post herpetic pain syndrome, carpel tunnel syndrome and sciatica. Furthermore, he provides therapies for headaches, atypical facial pain, pelvis pain, joint pain and an assortment of peripheral nerve pains.
Dr. J’s goals of treatment not only include relieving pain but also increasing function and quality of life. Using his diverse background, exceptional training and experience with evidence based interventional techniques, he helps his patients control their pain and regain their normal lives.
