Dr. Larry P. Alexander was born and raised in Houston, received his Bachelor’s of Arts degree with High Honors in Biology from the University of Texas at Austin, and graduated from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston in 1978. After completing a three-year residency in Ophthalmology at Louisiana State University Medical Center in New Orleans in 1981, Dr. Alexander moved back to Houston where he did a fellowship in Anterior Segment and Oculoplastic Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston under Dr. Milton Boniuk. He is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Alexander was a clinical instructor with the Ophthalmology Department at Baylor College of Medicine and for 30 years provided indigent care at the Strawberry Clinic of the Harris County Hospital District in Pasadena. Concurrently he has also had a private practice in Pasadena since 1982, helping patients with their medical and surgical needs, and joined the Houston Eye Associates in 2010. …He is highly trained and uses the most advanced technologies in performing cataract and intraocular lens (IOL) surgery, and laser treatment for diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma. He has served on the surgery, credentials, and medical executive committees at Doctors Outpatient Surgicenter and CHI St. Luke’s Patients Medical Center. In 2015, he served as Chief of Staff for CHI St. Luke’s Patients Medical Center and is currently on the executive committee of Houston Eye Associates. Dr. Alexander is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Houston Ophthalmological Society, and the Harris County Medical Society.
Dr. Alexander is an Eagle Scout and has been an Assistant Scoutmaster for eight years. He enjoys gardening, welding artwork from metal, and wave runners. He is also blessed with his wife Michelle, and four children, Josh, Rachel, Ryan, and Nicole.
