Mercedes Martinez, MD, is a Professor of Pediatrics and Medicine, the Medical Director of the Intestinal Transplant Program at the Center for Liver Disease and Abdominal Organ Transplantation, and the Medical Director, Pediatric Abdominal Organ Transplantation Transplant at NewYork-Presbyterian. She provides state-of-the-art care for children with a multitude of liver and intestinal issues, including children with liver and intestinal failure that require transplantation and for those with intestinal failure associated liver disease. Dr. Martinez is nationally and internationally recognized for her expertise in treating liver tumors and autoimmune liver disorders. Her research interests include liver biomarkers of operational tolerance and personalized immunosuppression, liver tumors in children, autoimmune liver diseases, metabolic disorders, nutritional deficiencies associated with liver diseases, and intestinal failure. In addition, she has been part of multi-center collaborative …efforts to study the impact of autoimmune liver disorders in children and clinical trials of immunosuppression withdrawal.
