Paul G. Hayter, OD
Dr. Paul G. Hayter was born in Alexandria, MN, spent his childhood in the Midwest moving from Minnesota, Iowa, and Missouri. He attended the University of Missouri-Columbia where he received his bachelor of science in biology graduating cum laude. After graduating, he went on to optometry school at the University of Missouri-St. Louis School of Optometry. During his training at the optometry school Dr. Hayter was treasurer and then president of Student Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (SVOSH). This organization allowed him to volunteer his skills to the underprivileged in Mexico in which he and a group of his fellow students performed free eye exams.
Dr. Hayter worked at several clinical locations. His first clinic was in Midland, Texas in which he took over in 2001. He later accumulated two other locations one in Odessa, TX and another in Lubbuck, TX. After three years in West Texas Dr. Hayter decided to move to the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. During …this time he had locations in Arlington and Irving. Now, Dr. Hayter has two location one in Las Colinas (Irving), TX and the other in Dallas, TX in which he co-owns with Dr. J. Anthony Chapman.
As a therapeutic optometrist and glaucoma specialist, Dr. Hayter specializes in diabetic, cataract, glaucoma, macular, and vitreo-retinal evaluations of the eye. He was trained by Dr. Ed Bennett on the fitting of contact lenses, which allows him to fit those that are difficult to fit and those with certain eye conditions such as keratoconus and corneal scars.
Dr. Hayter is a member of the American Optometric Association (AOA), the Texas Optometric Association (TOA), and the Dallas County Optometric Society (DCOS) and is board certified by the American Board of Optometry.
