His professional achievements include receiving scholarships from the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and the Walter and Virginia Sohre scholarship for geriatrics. Dr. Thurmes has authored numerous research papers and has been actively involved in clinical trials, particularly focusing on melanoma and lung cancer. Outside of his professional life, Dr. Thurmes enjoys the changing seasons of Minnesota, hiking, biking, cross-country skiing, gardening, and cooking with his partner in Minneapolis.
