Dr. Peter Bekendam, MD

Dr. Peter Bekendam currently serves as Medical Director for Pacific Eye Institute and has been a part of our team since 2016. He is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and specializes in cataract and anterior segment surgery, glaucoma procedures, and comprehensive ophthalmology. Over the course of his 15+ year career, he has performed over 15,000 cataract procedures in the greater Inland Empire area. In addition, he is excited to expand his surgical practice to include operating out of the practice’s new High Desert Surgery location in Apple Valley, starting in the summer of 2022.
In addition to his role as a practicing ophthalmologist, Dr. Bekendam currently serves as Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Loma Linda University Medical Center in Loma Linda, California, where he earned his own Medical Degree in 2004.
Dr. Bekendam is the Founder and President of Sight Restoration International, a non-profit organization which works to bring vision-restoration …surgery to patients in developing countries. He was also honored to be elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society while in medical school.
