Dr. Phillip Dale Challans, MD

Dr. Challans joined Mid-America Diabetes Associates in September 2006. He is a graduate of the University of Kansas School of Medicine (2001). He completed his residency in pediatrics at Wesley Hospital (2004) and spent 2 years in private practice as a general pediatrician in Wichita. Dr. Challans got hooked on diabetes care as a resident where he served several summers at Camp Discovery. He has held a special interest in the care and treatment of children with diabetes since that time. Dr. Challans treats all ages of patients with diabetes but is particularly interested in children with pre-diabetes and in finding creative ways to help those children avoid becoming patients with Type 2 diabetes. Dr. Challans is married to Jama with whom he shares a home full of pets (2 dogs & 4 cats) No kids of their own but Dr. Challans feels that his pediatric patients are his extended family and is very interested in their success. Dr. Challans has become known around the office as MADA’s …own Dr. Phil, a title he is happy to hold.
