Dr. Robert Torrance Andrews, MD

Dr. Robert Torrance (Torre) Andrews is a board-certified radiologist with additional sub-specialty certification in vascular and interventional radiology (image-guided surgery). Dr. Andrews completed his fellowship in vascular and interventional radiology at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. He fulfilled his internship and his residency in diagnostic radiology at Harbor-UCLA Medical center, earned his medical degree at the University of California at San Diego, and has a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from San Diego State University. He is professionally affiliated with the Society of Interventional Radiology and serves as a member of that group’s Executive Council.
Dr. Andrews, who was named an Outstanding Teacher of the Year at Johns Hopkins, has spent much of his career in academic medicine, developing new techniques and procedures and teaching vascular and interventional radiology to a generation of specialists in the field. Before joining Seattle Radiologists, his faculty …appointments included Clinical Instructor of diagnostic radiology at Johns Hopkins, Assistant Professor of interventional therapy at the Dotter Interventional Institute in Portland, Oregon, Associate Professor of diagnostic radiology and surgery at Oregon Health Sciences University, and Associate Professor of diagnostic radiology at the University of Washington, where he was also Chief of the vascular and interventional section and Director of the University of Washington Center for Endovascular Therapy. He continues to work occasionally at the University of Washington as a Clinical Associate Professor.
In addition to writing numerous published research articles and book chapters, Dr. Andrews has regularly lectured across the United States and around the world. He is professionally affiliated with the Society of Interventional Radiology and serves as a member of that group’s Executive Council. He is a founding member of the Society of Pediatric Interventional Radiology (along with Seattle Radiologists partner Dr. Manrita Sidhu) and is also a member of the Society of Vascular Medicine.
In his spare time, Dr. Andrews enjoys exploring the Northwest with his wife and their two young daughters. Alpine Skiing, wakeboarding, and scuba diving are his favorite pastimes.
