Dr. Simon Fishman is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) and the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine. As a neurologist, Dr. Fishman is highly trained to treat disorders of the nervous system, which include diseases of the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and muscles. He has extensive experience with movement disorders, neuromuscular disorders, and therapeutic use of BOTOX® and Baclofen.
Dr. Fishman graduated from Thomas Jefferson Medical College at the age of 23. He completed an Internal Medicine Internship, a Neurology Residency, and a Neuromuscular Fellowship at the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor. He completed additional training in Neurologic Critical Care at Johns Hopkins Medical Center.
Since July 2000, Dr. Fishman has been practicing general neurology in Northern Virginia, with admitting privileges at INOVA Fairfax and Arlington Hospital.
In addition to his private practice, Dr. Fishman is actively involved in …educational and community projects that help improve the standard of neurologic care in metro Washington, DC. His dedication to neurological education are manifested through his history of adjunct faculty appointments at George Washington University Hospital Center, the Krasnow Institute of Advanced Study at George Mason University and Virginia Medical College, sponsorship of several support groups at Fairfax Hospital, and regular speaking engagement on a wide range of neurologic topics to both professional and patient groups.
Shortly after starting practice in NoVA, he established the Neurovascular Care Unit and stroke program at Alexandria Hospital, chaired the Inova System-wide Stroke Support team, spearheaded efforts to mandate 24-hour neurology coverage at Fairfax Hospital, and established the first comprehensive spasticity management program at Woodbine Rehabilitation Center in Alexandria.
Since 2003, when he established Integrated Neurology Service, LLC, he has been featured in several local magazines, obtained the Collaborative Service Award from Inova Alexandria Hospital, and has been a recipient of the Patients Choice Award.
Most importantly, he is the proud father of four wonderful kids
