He earned his Doctorate of Medicine from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston,S.C. He completed 2 Residencies with Board Certifications at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, S.C. [Family Medicine & Anesthesiology] Upon completion of a Family Practice Residency and obtaining Board Certification he practiced at Family Practice Medical Center in Hartsville, South Carolina. After a very successful practice, Dr. Boatwright returned to the University of South Carolina to complete an Anesthesiology residency. He was awarded a Clinical Subspecialty in Cardiac Anesthesia, and received extensive training in Pain Management. During both residencies he severed as Chief Resident and was awarded Outstanding Resident Honors.
Dr. Boatwright was the co-founder of Coastal Anesthesia Consultants and served as Director of …Anesthesia , Cardiac Anesthesia and Pain Management at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. Dr. Boatwright started the first interventional pain management center in Myrtle Beach, S.C, and one of the first interventional pain care clinics in the state. After 8 successful years at GSRMC Dr. Boatwright returned to his passion in primary care focusing on comprehensive pain management.
