Dr. Stephen Michael Fries, MD

Dr. Fries moved to Boulder with his wife Holly in 1980 to begin his practice at Boulder Medical Center. The FriesÂ’ and their four children Laura, Carolyn, and twins Mitch and Maggie are an active family and enjoy living in this part of the country appreciating the good weather and beauty of the Rockies. Dr. Fries also enjoys gardening. He has found Boulder to be a rewarding place to practice Pediatrics primarily because parents here place a high value on quality medical care for their children.
MEDICAL TRAINING AND SPECIALTY
Dr. Fries received his pre-medical and medical training from Ohio State University in Columbus. He earned his Medical Degree in 1977 and subsequently moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan for his internship and residency at the University of Michigan. He began his practice at the Boulder Medical Center in 1980. He is a clinical faculty member at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and remains updated in his field by regularly attending conferences and …seminars.
Pediatric care is unique in that it is one area of medicine that focuses on well care. Emphasis is placed on the monitoring of child development and the prevention of illness and disease. As a Pediatrician, Dr. Fries is trained in the general care and treatment of children from infancy through adolescence. He provides anticipatory guidance for children through services such as well-baby care, diagnostic evaluations and screening programs for vision and hearing. His interests within Pediatrics include evaluating children with learning and behavior disorders which interfere with school performance. According to Dr. Fries, another reward in being a Pediatrician is that “I am able to observe the fruits of my labor years longer than some of my other medical colleagues.
