Hi, I’m Dr. Tamara Martinez; I am a board-certified Dentist with a passion for Cosmetic Dentistry, Family Dentistry, Reconstructive Dentistry and more!
I am originally from Colombia S.A. Life there is not as busy as it is here which has its own pros and cons. I was blessed by being able to go to dental school at one of the top schools in the country, Valle University, which ranked No. 1 at the time. I came to the US soon after turning thirty. In the US, I was accepted to dental school at the University of Southern California …USC, one of the best dental schools in the US, always ranking on top. GO TROJANS!!! FIGHT ON!!!, where I graduated summer of 2006. A valuable philosophy I learned from my time there was, that people in Hollywood and L.A. in general, have come to expect not only a functional smile but a beautiful one as well (the Hollywood Smile). Nowadays smile design is not reserved for the Hollywood crowd alone and I am very proud to be able to offer that to my patients here in So Flo.
I have been practicing dentistry since 1996; I worked as an associate for a large Corporate Dental Services Organization for over 12 years, but something was missing. I wanted more interaction with my patients, getting to know them and really listening to their needs, not just the 20 minutes allotted per patient. Hence, I started to work for other private offices in town and it felt more natural and more like me; nonetheless, I still wanted a practice where I could treat my patients with all the care and love I always give and that people would just love to go, without fear, without anxiety and looking forward to “going to the dentist”. I am happy to share with all, I am in that practice now.
My husband and I could have settled somewhere else in the US, as I am licensed to work in other states. However, we love South Florida and what it has to offer, the culinary variety, the cultural diversity, our sports teams, the beach, the everglades, the Florida Keys, the ability to quickly travel to and from here to Europe, South America, the Caribbean there is so much to enjoy here and we could not see ourselves living anywhere else.
Now, there is something more about me that I’d like to share and it is that I love what I do. First, I very much care for the well-being of my patients; and second I am a nerd when it comes to dentistry, I cannot get enough of it. I constantly continue to grow as a professional. To me Dentistry is a mixture of Science, Art and Technology hence I keep up with the latest developments, latest techniques and materials in dentistry. I love the implementation of new technologies and what can be accomplished with them; but what I enjoy the most is when I see the changes I have made in my patients’ lives when they are able to smile with confidence and when they are able to chew their food evenly and without discomfort. That is without a doubt the most rewarding feeling. It would be my pleasure to meet you and have the opportunity to exceed your expectations.
