Wayne Prigoff, D.D.S.
Dr. Wayne Prigoff has been a leading orthodontic specialist on Long Island and New York City for 27 years.
He is a graduate of the prestigious New York University, College of Dentistry (Doctorate degree in Dentistry) and Columbia University, School of Dental and Oral Surgery (at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital) where he attained his Certificate as a Specialist- Practice Limited to Orthodontics for Children and Adults. Upon his graduation Dr. Prigoff established his private practice as well as accepting a faculty appointment, He spent 5 years teaching in the Department of Post-Graduate Orthodontics at Columbia University, School of Dental and Oral Surgery achieving the title of Associate Professor of Clinical Orthodontics.
Since 1991, Dr. Prigoff has continued his passion for educating young dentists and orthodontists at North Shore University Hospital- Manhasset, (now North Shore- LlJ Health System) in the Department of Dental Medicine: Division …of Interceptive Orthodontics. This dental division focuses on children with severe malocclusions (bad bite) and orthodontic problems where early intervention (at 8-12 years old) can often prevent or make easier more difficult and complicated treatment later on as a teenager. This can very often resolve orthodontic issues that might later require pulling of permanent teeth (extraction) or lead to impaction of permanent teeth.
Dr. Prigoff has received the Distinguished Service Award and the Meritorious Service Award from the North Shore- LIJ Department of Dental Medicine. In his role as a member of the Medical Staff he has also received from the North Shore- LIJ Health System, Department of Dental Medicine for “Outstanding Attending of the Year” awards in 1994, 1995, 2001, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007.
Dr. Prigoff has published articles and lectured internationally, locally and throughout the United States at professional conferences, dental schools and professional study clubs. He is s recognized expert on early interceptive treatment, non-extraction orthodontics and combined orthodontic-TMJ treatment.
