Dr. William Scott Bowen, MD

Dr. William Scott Bowen specializes in Orthopedic, Orthopedic Reconstructive Surgery, and Sports Medicine.
He is a native of Little Rock who graduated from Vanderbilt University with a B.S. in chemistry in 1977. After receiving his medical degree from UAMS in 1986, Dr. Bowen then completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at the UAMS. He also did a residency in general surgery at Tulane.
Dr. Bowen is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Orthopedics Society for Sports Medicine, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the American College of Sports Medicine, and the Arkansas Medical Society. Dr. Bowen has been published in the Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery. His specialties include total hip and knee replacement and arthroscopic reconstruction of the knee and shoulder.
Dr. Bowen currently serves as the Chairman of the Board of Managers for Arkansas Surgical Hospital and is actively …involved in decisions regarding overall patient care and growth of the facility. Dr. Bowen has also participated in numerous clinical trials to look at how various pain medicines and blood thinning drugs affect patients recovering from orthopedic surgery. He has now been in private practice for 24 years and was recently voted one of the best doctors in orthopedic surgery in the Arkansas Times Best Doctors of 2009.
