Dr. Jernigan is a Board-Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon specializing in conditions affecting the hand, wrist and elbow.
His clinical interests include hand, forearm, and elbow fractures and soft tissue trauma including tendon and neurovascular injuries, inflammatory and osteoarthritis, compression neuropathies, wrist disorders, elbow instability, elbow arthroplasty, and management of post amputation neuromas.
Dr. Jernigan began his academic career at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa with highest distinction and received the Department of Chemistry Merck Index Award.
He continued at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to receive his medical degree, and during this time he was elected a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
Dr. Jernigan also completed his surgical internship and orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After residency, Dr. Jernigan completed a …fellowship in hand and upper extremity surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, ranked by US News and World Report as the #1 orthopaedic hospital. He has participated in multiple medical mission trips.
