Michele Dobbelaere

I graduated from New York Chiropractic College in 2007 with an M.S. in Acupuncture. I have been licensed in New York since 2007 and in New Jersey since 2008. I started out working for a fertility gynecologist in New York state. After moving to the NYC metro area, I became more interested in pain management acupuncture. I completed additional training in a new type of acupuncture called neuroacupuncture that combines Traditional Chinese Medicine with medical acupuncture (acupuncture points based on anatomy and nerves).
I am interested in how alternative medicine can be a support for traditional Western medical treatment for mood related disorders such as depression, anxiety and PTSD. I have completed extra coursework through VA Train on treating the veteran population, who often have sleep disturbance in addition to chronic pain issues. I have attended several seminars through MSKCC on using acupuncture as supportive care for patients having treatment related side effects from …chemotherapy and radiation. I treat cancer related pain, hot flash, skin, mood and sleep problems with medical clearance from the treating oncologist.
