Dr. Alan Cheung is a graduate of Harvard Medical School. He joined Surgical Associates, Inc. in 1992 and is currently the Director of the Transplant Institute and Director Pancreas Transplantation at Hawaii Medical Center – East. Dr. Cheung performed the first pancreas transplant in Hawaii in 1993. He continues to perform many organ transplants and general surgery procedures mainly at the Hawaii Medical Center – East and Castle Medical Center. He was the former Chief of Surgery and Chief Surgical Officer for Hawaii Medical Center – East. He is a Professor of Surgery for the University of Hawaii School of Medicine. Along with his busy surgical practice, Dr. Cheung is also the Vice-President of Medical Affairs at Castle Medical Center. Dr. Cheung has consistently been recognized in Honolulu Magazine’s Best Doctors in Hawaii.
