Dr. Gillio joined HUMC in 1996. He has expertise in stem cell transplant for the treatment of malignant and non-malignant diseases in children and have transplanted over 500 patients during his career. He also have expertise and experience in cellular therapies such as CAR-T cells and gene therapy. He developed the Bone Marrow Failure Program at HUMC where he studies and treats patients with inherited or acquired bone marrow failure diseases such as aplastic anemia and Fanconi anemia. He has 3 decades of experience in treating primary immunodeficiency diseases and is currently the Co-Director of the NJ Immunodeficiency Specialty group thatadvises the state on newborn screening for immune disorders.
He is the primary investigator on many HUMC clinical research protocols and a member of many research consortia including:
