Andrew Clavenna, MD, a Texas native, attended Trinity University in San Antonio and received his medical degree from Louisiana State University Medical School in Shreveport. He was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. After graduating, Dr. Clavenna completed a general surgery internship and orthopaedic surgery residency at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas. Following his residency, Dr. Clavenna completed a fellowship in spine surgery at the Los Angeles Spine Surgery Institute in California. During this one-year fellowship, Dr. Clavenna focused on sports-spine injuries, degenerative spine disorders, and deformity management involving the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine. While in Los Angeles, Dr. Clavenna conducted research using spinal navigation techniques, an advancement in spine surgery that allows for safer and more accurate placement of instrumentation. Dr. Clavenna specializes in minimally invasive spine surgery, artificial disc replacement (disc …arthroplasty) and kyphoplasty more traditional spinal procedures.
