Dr. Salem was born and lived in New York City his entire life and has been taking care of acute and chronic pain patients for more than 20 years. He graduated from the highly lauded Icahn mount Sinai school of medicine. He initially trained and obtain board certification in emergency medicine.
He spent many years as an assistant professor of emergency medicine at SUNY downstate and Kings County hospital teaching medical student and residence. While he was there, he developed a strong interest in using ultrasound for bedside diagnosis as well as to guide injections for the purpose of diagnosing and treating complicated medical problems efficiently in the emergency department. He became interested in complicated neurologic, musculoskeletal, and orthopedic problems that could be treated effectively without surgery. He is also licensed in medical acupuncture in New York State and completed 18 months …of trip training him complex evaluation of chronic pain patients and advanced pain and spine procedures at the prestigious comprehensive spine and pain center of New York.
