Dr. Assar Ahmed Rather, MD

Bayhealth Medical Group is pleased to announce the arrival of General and Colorectal Surgeon Assar. A. Rather, MD.
Dr. Rather recently completed a Fellowship in Colorectal Surgery at Cleveland Clinic Florida and his surgical residency at Mercy Catholic Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA. He has published in a variety of peer-reviewed journals and co-authored book chapters on the Management of Perianal Crohn’s Disease and Laparoscopy in Crohn’s Colitis.
Dr. Rather’s areas of special interest are robotic and minimally invasive gastrointestinal surgery, surgical oncology, and surgical management of inflammatory bowel disease. He is board certified in General Surgery and board eligible for Colorectal Surgery. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the American Society of Colorectal Surgeons, the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, and the American Medical Association.
