Dr. Benjamin Michael Schwartz, MD

Dr. Benjamin Schwartz is a specialist in Gynecologic Oncology and Minimally Invasive Surgery. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a Fellow in the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the American College of Surgeons and a Board Certified Gynecologic Oncologist.
In 2011, Dr. Schwartz was named Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center where he also serves as the Director of the Division of Gynecologic Oncology. In addition to Good Samaritan Hospital, Dr. Schwartz has full admitting privileges at Southside Hospital, North Shore University Hospital at Plainview and Syosset, St. Joseph Hospital (formerly New Island Hospital), St. Charles Hospital, Mather Hospital, St. Catherine’s of Siena Medical Center, Mercy Medical Center, and St. Francis Hospital.
After graduating from Dartmouth College, Dr. Schwartz obtained his medical degree from the George Washington University …School of Medicine. He then completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at The Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City and served as Administrative Chief Resident. During his residency, Dr. Schwartz completed a Galloway Fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, NY. He then completed subspecialty training in a three year fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio.
A leader in the field of Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Oncology, he is a member of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists’ Division of Gynecologic Oncology. He is also certified as an “Advanced Laparoscopist” by the Accreditation Council for Gynecologic Endoscopy. Dr. Schwartz is also a leader in the field of chemotherapy for gynecological cancers and served on the Medical Oncology Committee of the Gynecologic Oncology Group, a national collaborative group that studies experimental treatments for gynecological cancers.
