Brian H. Jewart, MD is a board-certified, fellowship-trained vitreo-retinal surgeon. He received his undergraduate education at the University of Maryland and his medical degree at the University of Pittsburgh, where he was the recipient of the Air Force Health Professions Scholarship. He performed his internship at Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh and his residency at St. Francis Medical Center, where he was named chief resident. Dr. Jewart underwent his fellowship training at the prestigious Charles Retina Institute in Memphis, TN. In addition, he spent almost a decade in the United States Air Force, achieving Captain’s rank. He is a member of many professional organizations including the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Diabetes Association and the Pennsylvania Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Jewart has authored and co-authored many publications and has given multiple presentations. He also is featured in patient educational videos and …has achieved national recognition for his video about diabetic retinopathy. He has been a guest on various radio programs to educate patients. Dr. Jewart treats all medical and surgical diseases affecting the retina, including diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration.
