Dr. Chad Douglas Kollas, MD

Chad Kollas, MD, is the medical director of Palliative and Supportive Care at MD Anderson – Orlando and medical director of the Palliative Care Unit at ORMC’s Lucerne Pavilion. He received his medical degree from the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine in Hershey, Pennsylvania. He is board certified in palliative medicine and internal medicine. Dr. Kollas received an SGIM National Award for Innovation in Medical Education and the John Templeton Foundation Award for Spirituality Curricula in Primary Care Residency Programs. Dr. Kollas serves as the AMA delegate and immediate past chair of the Public Policy Committee of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine. He serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Pain and Symptom Management. He received the AAHPM’s 2006 Paper Award for his analysis of legal reasoning in the Terri Schiavo case. Dr. Kollas has achieved fellowship status in the American College of Physicians, the American College of Legal …Medicine and the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine. His published research includes articles on end-of-life care, healthy policy and medicolegal issues.
