I grew up in a small town in Wisconsin. I studied engineering at MIT, returned to Madison for medical school, and completed my Orthopedic surgery training in Vermont. Carol and I met and married in Madison. After finishing her PhD, we settled in Seattle. We have two boys, now grown up and on their own. I had the wonderful experience of team collegiate rowing at MIT, which led me to my love of medicine and orthopedics. I wanted to learn about sports medicine, and follow my natural inclinations for forming relationships, understanding complex problems, and fixing things. I have never looked back. My patients and colleagues have been generous with their feedback, and I have been recipient of multiple Top Doc awards.
