Christopher A. Smith, MD, FAAFP received his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in family medicine at the University of Virginia Health Sciences Center, where he was chief resident. Dr. Smith is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and earned the distinction of Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. He has been a family physician for more than 15 years.
Dr. Smith’s interests include preventive care and management of chronic diseases, including hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol and asthma, as well as the treatment of adult and adolescent acne. He is interested in the identification and treatment of attention deficit disorder for all ages. He also has a special interest in men’s health issues including testosterone deficiency and replacement options.
Known as a “Doctor’s doctor,” Dr. Smith is honored that many Upstate physicians see him for their own personal medical needs. Numerous CEOs, …entrepreneurs, and executives appreciate Dr. Smith’s medical advice to stay healthy and increase their energy and productivity. Many current and former professional athletes see Dr. Smith to stay at the top of their game.
As a husband and father of two, Dr. Smith enjoys taking care of families. He is available for well-child exams, sports physicals, Pap smears and adult yearly exams. He is passionate about quality healthcare delivered in an efficient and evidenced-based manner. Lifestyle, including a healthy diet and regular exercise, are discussed with all patients.
Dr. Smith wanted to improve the experience of healthcare from the patients’ point of view. When Dr. Smith was designing the office, he listened to patients and designed the practice to make the experience as stress-free and relaxing as possible. Concepts were adapted from the worlds of business, entertainment, architecture and manufacturing in designing this new healthcare experience. Dr. Smith and his staff look forward to meeting you and partnering with you in your health journey.
Dr. Smith enjoys time with his wife and children, traveling, and photography. He enjoys exercise and strong trains on a regular basis. He is involved in his local church and has taken medical mission trips. He is also a fan of all things Disney.
