Dr. Colum Amory is a board-certified neurologist  who has joined Hackensack Meridian Neuroscience Institute as Stroke Director for the Northern Region and for Hackensack University Medical Center. He is on faculty in the Department of Neurology at the Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine.
Using his extensive training and expertise, Dr. Amory specializes in and treats all types of neurovascular conditions, including acute stroke, arterial blockages, cerebrovascular disease, transient ischemic attack (TIA), ischemic stroke, intracerebral hemorrhage, thrombolytic therapy and secondary stroke prevention.
A strong believer that the best way to treat a stroke is to prevent a stroke, Dr. Amory is passionate about educating his patients on the importance of eating right and exercising, as well as how to recognize stroke symptoms. “Stroke is common, preventable, and very treatable if people seek medical attention promptly.”
Dr. Amory earned his Bachelor of Arts at Harvard, …followed by a Master’s public health from Boston University. He earned his medical degree at Albany Medical College in Albany, New York. He completed his neurology residency and chief residency at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, before undertaking a stroke fellowship at the same institution. He then returned to Albany Medical College, rising through the ranks to Stroke Director & Professor of Neurology.
In addition to his clinical activities, Dr. Amory has contributed to numerous research publications and delivered invited presentations at national and international conferences. He is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association and the New York Neurological Society.
