Dale was born and raised in Peru, Illinois. Severely injured in an auto-accident at age 11, he observed, first-hand, the good that doctors are capable of performing, and it was then that he decided to become a physician. He chose his specialty after observing his first case in cardiac surgery. Dr. Mueller and his wife, Beth, have three children-Lauren, Natalie and Nicolas, and his parents, Bob and Marge, still live in Peru. For fun, Dale likes to play basketball.
