Dr. Akkaway earned his dental degree from Columbia University College of Dental Medicine. Upon graduation from Columbia University, he was the Alpha Omega Award recipient for graduating first in his class. Dr. Akkaway was also honored by being inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the National Dental Honor Society. After graduation, Dr. Akkaway completed a General Dentistry Residency at Sepulveda VA Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. He then returned to New York to complete a three-year orthodontic residency at Saint Barnabas Hospital – affiliated with Weill Medical College of Cornell University.
