Dr. Provost has practiced bariatric surgery for over 20 years, performing the first laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass in Texas in April 1999. He is chief of the section of bariatric and general surgery at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Temple in Temple, TX. Dr. Provost is active in surgeon education and training in laparoscopic gastric bypass, adjustable gastric banding, sleeve gastrectomy and revisions and complications. He has served the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) on multiple committees, as well as two terms on the ASMBS Executive Council. Dr. Provost also served as Secretary of the Texas Association of Bariatric Surgery, the Texas Chapter of the ASMBS. He served as President of the ASMBS Foundation, having served on the Foundation board from 2007 – 2014. Dr. Provost also serves as an associate editor for SOARD, the official journal of the ASMBS.
