Dr. Donaldson received his medical degree from UCLA in Los Angeles, California. He completed a residency in Pediatrics at the LA County – USC Medical Center in Los Angeles, California and a fellowship in Genetics, Endocrinology & Metabolism at the University of Oklahoma in Oklahoma City where he also received a Master’s degree in Biochemistry. Dr. Donaldson is board certified in Pediatrics and in the subspecialty of Pediatric Endocrinology.
He was an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Oklahoma School of Medicine for five years followed by eight years at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City – the last five years as a tenured Associate Professor. Dr. Donaldson then spent four years as an Associate Professor at the University of Nevada School of Medicine in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he was also the medical director for the Pediatric Diabetes & Endocrinology Service for Columbia Sunrise Hospital and University Medical Center of Southern …Nevada.
Dr. Donaldson is currently a Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Utah School of Medicine in the Division of Pediatric Endocrinology and coordinates the pediatric residency endocrinology rotation. He is an attending physician for the Prader-Willi Syndrome Clinic and for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Clinic.
He is currently involved in clinical research related to the genetics and prevention of Type 1 diabetes. Other research interests/activities include growth hormone or disorders of growth and parent-child interactions in managing type 1 diabetes.
