I was born in Mumbai (Bombay), India, and spent most of my childhood and early adult life in India. I was a fully trained orthopedic surgeon when I immigrated to the United States in 1991. After passing qualifying examinations in the U.S., I started retraining, which included residency training in orthopedic surgery and fellowships in adult reconstruction and musculoskeletal oncology. I am married and have three daughters. My wife is a physician who specializes in kidney diseases in children.
