Dr. Ernest Louis Mazzaferri, MD

Ernest Mazzaferri Jr., MD, FACC, is medical director of Ohio States Richard M. Ross Heart Hospital and assistant professor of clinical medicine at The Ohio State University Medical Center. Dr. Mazzaferri implanted the first Ventricular Partitioning Device (VPD) in the United States in March 2008, and to date has successfully placed more VPDs in patients than any practitioner in the world. He received the Healthcare Heroes Award from Business First in 2009 for his work with Ohio State Medical Centers STEMI program. Dr. Mazzaferri earned his medical degree and completed his residency at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. He completed his general cardiology fellowship and chief cardiology fellowship at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Fla., and interventional cardiology fellowship at Ohio States Medical Center. An invited presenter on a variety of cardiovascular topics, Dr. Mazzaferri has published numerous abstracts, articles and book chapters. Dr. Mazzaferri …is a Fellow in the American College of Cardiology and was also a faculty member at Transcatheterier Cardiovascular Therapeutics in 2009, the premier global forum for interventional cardiology. His clinical and research interests include adjunctive pharmacotherapy in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab and novel heart failure device implantation.
