Dr. Gennaro Selvaggi, MD

Dr. Gennaro Selvaggi specializes in Liver Transplantation and Hepatobiliary Surgery at Broward Health Medical Center and Jackson Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Selvaggi received his degree in Medicine Doctor at the University of Bari, Italy. He then trained at the University of Miami Diabetes Research Institute in the field of islet cell and bone marrow transplantation, where he also was the recipient of an NIH training fellowship grant. Subsequently, he completed residency in General Surgery at the University of Miami, Jackson Memorial Hospital, followed by two years of fellowship in abdominal organ transplantation, again at the University of Miami. He has been on staff as Assistant Professor of Clinical Surgery in the Division of Liver and GI Transplantation since July 2003. He is also the Surgical Director of the Pancreas Islet Cell Transplant Program, at the University of Miami, Jackson Memorial Hospital and the Associate Medical Director, Liver Transplantation, Jackson Health …System.
Dr. Selvaggi is board certified by the American Board of Surgery. He has published over 70 peer-reviewed articles in the field of transplantation, over 100 abstracts from national and international meetings. His clinical interests are in the field of adult and pediatric liver and intestinal transplantation.
Dr. Selvaggi is married. He speaks fluentl English, Italian and Spanish.
