Dr. Gerald Matthews is a staff psychiatrist at Talkiatry. He is board-certified in adult psychiatry, and has experience treating civilians, as well as active duty military and veterans. The majority of Dr. Matthews’s practice is in providing medication management, however he often collaborates with therapists in caring for his patients, where indicated.
He received his medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine in Louisville, KY, and then entered active duty service in the US Army at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, HI, where he completed his residency training. Upon completion, he moved to Fort Hood, TX, where he practiced as a staff psychiatrist as he completed his service obligation.
Dr. Matthews is board-certified in general psychiatry and treats mostly adults, on an outpatient basis. Some examples of conditions he has experience in treating during his time in practice include mood and anxiety disorders, psychosis, and trauma-related disorders.
