Gregory Mairs is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy (LMFT) who has 22 years of direct mobile therapy experience with couples therapy, individual therapy, and particularly family systems with severe trauma, abuse, systemic trauma, complex trauma, and severe mental illness. Greg has worked with families separated by war, prison, and emotional cutoff from trauma and domestic violence and abuse. He works primarily with families of children ages birth to 18, but Greg treats all ages in all family groups. There isn’t a population that he hasn’t worked with within a family systems approach. Greg Mairs only recently completed his Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy (MAMFT) at Seton Hill University following 20+ years of doing mobile therapy with various social service agencies in the Pittsburgh area. He mainly worked with the city’s most needy clients in the city’s most destitute neighborhoods, navigating the network of community-based services and assimilating knowledge of …many of the cultural differences of the diverse ethnic population of this international city. This has allowed Greg to join with families of various ethnic backgrounds and with various disabilities ranging from deafness to serious and persistent mental illness. He is able to manage crises and shift the paradigm of treatment (say from narrative to solution focused therapy in an instant) to meet necessary life changes and developmental milestones for clients of all ages and life circumstances. Greg has been taught to use a trauma focused/feminist informed lens to deliver therapy from various theories including structural, narrative, solution focused, Bowenian systems, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), emotional focused, etc. It’s a big, wiggly, unpredictable world out there. At times it may seem as though the sky is actually falling on us. Sometimes a second perspective can help when the road forward feels closed. Greg wants to help you develop the skills and tools to see a brighter future for yourself, your marriage, your family, or to simply change your world view. He can help you discover that YOU have the ability to find your own answers and plan for a happier, more fulfilling life.
