Dr. Mostafavi received his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in 1990. He completed his internship in general surgery at University of California San Francisco (UCSF). He then completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at SUNY Health Science Center at Brooklyn (Downstate Medical Center). Following his residency, Dr. Mostafavi spent 12 months at R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, Maryland completing a fellowship in orthopaedic traumatology.
Dr. Mostafavi is the Chief of the Division of Orthopaedic Trauma at North Shore University Hospital at Manhasset. He has been in practice with Orthopaedic Associates of Manhasset since 1998. His special interests include operative and non-operative treatment of fractures, upper extremity trauma (shoulder, humerus, elbow, forearm and wrist injuries), lower extremity trauma (hip, femur, knee, tibia, foot and ankle injuries), pelvic and acetabulum fractures, management of polytrauma patients, geriatric fractures, …non-unions and post-traumatic deformities. Dr. Mostafavi has published many articles in peer-reviewed journals and has lectured nationally on numerous topics in the field of orthopaedic trauma surgery.
Dr. Mostafavi is board certified in orthopaedic surgery and is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery, American Medical Association, Orthopaedic Trauma Association and the Association for Osteosynthesis/Association for the Study of Internal Fixation (AO/ASIF).
