Are your emotions running amok? Between social media, traditional news broadcasts, friends, and colleagues are you floundering or stumbling through so many sources of information that you’re no longer certain what is meaningful or important in your life? Within Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Hannah Evans, a licensed psychologist, will give you skills that you can use to chart your way through the haze. You will learn how to better control the emotional swings that cause you discomfort and sometimes interfere with meaningful relationships. Intimate relationships are difficult to manage and while you can’t change other people, you can change yourself. Understanding your approach and changing it will help you stop the destructive “dance” that you’ve been performing and you’ll be surprised to find that your environment and your partner have changed as well, but only after you’ve changed the music.
Forgiveness, gratitude and self-acceptance support a healthy mental life. So do more …effective anger management, strategic problem solving, anxiety-reduction, and lifting of depression. Physical activity, a healthy diet, good, sound sleep, and a healthy support system of friends and family produce a lifestyle that will enable you to live your best life to the fullest. Hannah will help you get there through virtual telehealth appointments.
Hannah Evans obtained a MS and Ph.D. from Penn State and has been licensed as a clinical psychologist since 1975. She also has an MPA from CU-Denver. (The MPA teaches you how to be a good bureaucrat). For 4 years Hannah worked in Community Mental Health, then she had a private practice specializing in adult survivors of rape and incest. For the past eight years, she has been seeing older folks in long-term care and assisted living facilities. She has really enjoyed working with older Veterans with PTSD.
Her therapeutic philosophy is derived from three broader categories. She uses Social Learning Theory to explain how we learn to think and behave. Feminist Theory emphasizes the expectations and pressures projected onto men, women, and LGBTQ individuals. And, finally, Existential Theory supports an understanding of why we do what we do to survive. Humans want to feel SAFE, connected, and effective. These require Awareness, Authenticity, Agency, Acceptance, and Curiosity. Not there yet? Hannah Evans can help.
