Haydee C. Brown, MD is a fellowship-trained foot and ankle orthopaedic surgeon fluent in English and Spanish. Her practice is focused primarily on the care of injuries and problems of the foot and ankle.
Dr. Brown completed her orthopaedic surgery training at the prestigious Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in New York, ranked the #1 hospital for orthopaedic surgery by US News and World Report. To further concentrate on treating dancers, Dr. Brown remained at HSS for subspecialty fellowship training in foot and ankle orthopaedic surgery. As a fellow she worked with Dr. William G. Hamilton, the orthopaedic consultant to both the New York City Ballet and the American Ballet Theater. Dr. Brown also assisted with the care of members of the NY Knicks, the former NJ Nets, NY Red Bulls, NY Giants and several Broadway performers during her fellowship.
Born in Harlem, NY, Dr. Brown attended the elite Hunter College High School and was simultaneously a merit fellowship student with …The Ailey School. She went on to graduate with honors in Latin American Studies from Wellesley College. Dr. Brown obtained her medical degree from the New York University School of Medicine. As a medical student she interned at the Harkness Center for Dance Injuries, the orthopaedic consultants to The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and The Ailey School.
Dr. Brown has been the author of several peer-reviewed articles in orthopaedic surgery. Her work was presented at annual meetings of both regional and national organizations. She was formerly on the Women’s Health Issues Advisory Board for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery.
