Dr. Herbert Kanter is an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, licensed by the State of Illinois, and certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 1977.  This means that upon completion of his Bachelor of Arts Degree at Northwestern University (1969) and receiving his DDS at Northwestern University Dental School (1971), he completed a one year Internship in General Dentistry and a three year Residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (1975).  Dr. Kanter’s post graduate education was completed at the University of Chicago Hospitals and Clinics.
Dr. Kanter is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and is also a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.  He belongs to numerous other state and national dental associations including the American Association of Implant Dentistry, the American Dental Society of Anesthesia and the American Dental Association and Chicago Dental Society.  Dr. Kanter …has lectured to various dental organizations and community groups and is an attending staff member at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and at Northwest Community Hospital.  He had served as an Associate Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Northwestern University Dental School until its closing.Â
