Herbert K. Mayer was born in New Orleans and received his medical degree from LSU School of Medicine in 1983. He performed his Gastroenterology Fellowship at the Ochsner Foundation Hospital from 1986 to 1988. Having received his Board Certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine in 1986, he received his Board Certification in Gastroenterology in 1989. Dr. Mayer maintains active membership in many professional organizations, including the American Medical Association, American College of Physicians and American College of Gastroenterology. Dr. Mayer practices at the Uptown office of Metropolitan Gastroenterology Associates.
