Dr. Bloch’s father was a United States Navy Dentist; his mother a dental hygienist. It was probably inevitable that Dr. Bloch would end up committing his life to the dental profession. Those who have known him long are not at all surprised that the watchwords of his practice are old-fashioned service; honest, ethical, conservative care; and an emphasis on prevention.
The eldest of four children and a High School All-American swimmer, he learned a great deal about responsibility, self-discipline and the value of hard work. Every day for years Jeff heaped five-and-a-half hours of training on top of his school work and family chores. His determination and resolve paid off at Saint Mary’s College of California in the San Francisco Bay Area. There he was one of only nine to graduate with a degree in Biology-Pre Med; eighty-nine Pre Med majors started the program.
Dr. Bloch received his Doctorate from Loma Linda University’s School of Dentistry in 1987. Upon graduation he was selected one …of only three in the country to enter an advanced hospital-based General Practice Residency program at the US Naval Hospital at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton.
There he received an intense education in the treatment of medically-compromised patients and treatment of oral and maxillo-facial trauma. The program essentially put him years and skill-levels ahead of his peers.
Dr. Bloch was a member of the United States Navy/Marine Corps team from 1983 until 1997. During that time he served in 34 countries and received several distinguished awards as a veteran of close combat. After retiring from the service he worked in 41 different dental offices but was disappointed to find that he could only recommend three or four to his family and friends. Sensing the community’s need for more honest, ethical and conservative dental care, he established Bloch Dental in late 2001.
Dr. Bloch has continued his training and education since leaving dental school by:
Serving as an instructor at Loma Linda University
Active participation in the Academy of General Dentistry
Coursework and membership in the Appliance Therapy Practitioners Association
Completing of over 1,100 hours of continuing dental education.
Dr. Bloch takes a special interest in helping patients who are uninsured. He also helps insured patients negotiate their way through dealings with insurance companies.
