Dr. Jennifer Ker grew up in a small town in northeastern Ohio, but has made Nashville her home since 2004. Dr. Ker is boarded certified in Allergy and Immunology as well as Pediatrics. She began her studies at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio where she received a Bachelor of Science in Zoology. Dr. Ker then attended Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois to study Neurobiology and Physiology and received a Master of Science in 2000. Dr. Ker received her medical degree from the Medical College of Ohio in 2004 and moved to Nashville with her husband to attend Vanderbilt. She completed both her residency in Pediatrics and fellowship training in Allergy and Immunology at Vanderbilt University. During her residency training she was the Vanderbilt representative to the American Academy of Pediatrics and during fellowship training received the Samuel R. Marney Jr Award.
Dr. Ker has been in academic practice at both Vanderbilt University and the Ohio State University until …joining Allergy Partners on June 1st, 2014. She is active in the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (AAAAI) and serves on the Adverse Reactions to Foods committee. She has also worked with Tennessee Department of Health to update the guidelines for school procedures in regard to the treatment of food allergy in the school setting. Dr. Ker also continues to be involved in teaching at Vanderbilt as she leads the Allergy and Immunology fellows’ journal club.
Dr. Ker is married to Jeffrey Ker and they have three children, Reagan, Colin and Hudson. When not working, Dr. Ker spends most of her time balancing the varied activities of three young children, running or reading when she has the opportunity, and of course, cheering for the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Dr. Ker has a particular interest working with patients suffering from allergies, asthma, eczema, and food allergy. Her approach to patient care is to listen to the patient carefully and work together as a team to develop a treatment plan that will improve their condition and quality of life.
