Dr. John Burt Checton, MD

Dr. Checton completed his undergraduate studies at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY. He then earned his medical degree at UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School, Newark, NJ.
He completed his Internship and Medical Residency including chief residency at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, NJ. He completed his Fellowship in cardiovascular disease at the University of Louisville School of Medicine in Louisville, KY.
Dr. Checton is an Attending Physician at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch, NJ, and Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, NJ. He has been the Director, Cardiac Catheterization Lab at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch, NJ, since 1997. Dr. Checton has also been the Director of Cardiology at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch, NJ, since 1985.
He has been certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Subspecialty of Cardiovascular Disease, American Board of Internal Medicine, Sub Specialty of Critical Care Medicine, as well as the …Certification Council of Nuclear Cardiology.
Dr. Checton is a member of the American College of Cardiology, American Heart Association, American College of Physicians, American Medical Association, American Society of Internal Medicine, Monmouth County Medical Society, Medical Society of New Jersey, American Society of Echocardiography, and the American Society of Nuclear Medicine.
He is also a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, American Heart Association (Council of Clinical Cardiology), and the American College of Chest Physicians.
