Dr. Ausiello is instructor in Medicine at the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University. He received his undergraduate training at Harvard College and his medical training at Harvard Medical School. He completed three years of house staff training (internship, residency) on the Medical Service at Massachusetts General Hospital followed by a year as a Research Fellow at College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University. He completed three years of fellowship training in Endocrinology and Metabolic Disorders at College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University. During his fellowship his research focused on growth hormone deficiency. He received an Endocrine Fellows Foundation award to investigate the potential differences between growth hormone and IGF-1 in subjects with growth hormone deficiency. Dr. Ausiello co-authored a chapter in a neurosurgery text book focusing on the pre-operative endocrine management of patients having pituitary surgery. He also …co-authored a paper on the post-operative management of patients who have undergone pituitary surgery. He currently holds a general endocrine practice within the Endocrine Division at Columbia University Medical Center with a focus on metabolic bone disease, thyroid and neuroendocrine diseases. He is the primary attending on the in-patient neurosurgical service where he works closely with the fellows caring for patients who have undergone surgery by our neurosurgeon Dr. Jeffrey Bruce. In addition, two afternoons a month he precepts the endocrine fellows in the general endocrine and thyroid clinics. Dr. Ausiello also attends at NewYork-Presbyterian/The Allan Hospital as a private consult for the vascular service with a primary focus on in-patient diabetes management.
