John Barr, MD, has been practicing medicine for more than 20 years. He has had a long-standing interest in the endovascular treatment of ischemic stroke, and authored the first published report from North America of a series of patients treated for ischemic stroke by direct intra-arterial drug infusion. Dr. Barr is also one of the first physicians in the United States to perform percutaneous vertebroplasty for the treatment of painful osteoporotic spinal fractures. He currently serves as the medical director of neurointerventional surgery for Scripps Health. , Dr. Barr is a member of numerous academic and professional societies and is a former president of the Society of Neurointerventional Surgery.
