Dr. John R. Ehteshami, MD

A fellowship-trained spinal surgeon, Dr. Ehteshami focuses on the treatment of cervical spinal disease, including cervical stenosis, degenerative disc disease, neck and arm pain, along with numbness and weakness. Dr. Ehteshami is a John C. Lincoln- Scottsdale Health Care affiliated physician. He attended medical school at Thomas Jefferson University and the Rothman Institute. He completed his orthopedic residency at Hospital for Special Surgery, which has repeatedly been ranked the No. 1 orthopedic program by U.S. News and World Report. He also completed a spinal surgery fellowship at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, one of the top spine surgery programs in the U.S. He has conducted research on cervical disc replacements. His current work is on outpatient, micro-invasive, image-guided techniques for performing cervical spinal surgery.As part of the Cervical Spinal Centers, which offices in Scottsdale, Gilbert and Glendale, Dr. Ehteshami is able to accommodate patients with …urgent needs within the same week. Patients with pain radiating into the arms from the neck, numbness in the fingers, and/or weakness in the hands and arms, may have pressure on their nerves. An MRI of the cervical spine can identify these problems. An MRI demonstrating severe stenosis can lead to damage to the nerves in the neck area. Such findings should be evaluated and monitored by a spinal specialist independent of the severity of the pain and symptoms. Many patients can be treated non-operatively with excellent resolution of symptoms.
