He was instrumental in the growth of the Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre Pain clinic into one of the leading clinics in the health system.He is a graduate of the Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, DC. Upon earning his medical degree, Dr. Ombao completed an internal medicine internship at the State University of New York Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY. He then completed a residency in …anesthesiology at the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY before finishing a fellowship in interventional pain medicine at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, IA.“I’m excited with new applications for spinal cord stimulation, peripheral nerve stimulation and dorsal root ganglion stimulation for treatment of chronic pain, ” said Dr. Ombao. “I try to create an individualized treatment for each patient and recognize that interventional pain medicine is both a science and an art.”Dr. Ombao is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and the North American Neuromodulation Society.
